The New York Jets are the latest team to have a quarterback controversy, with Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater both vying for the starting position. What do these three quarterbacks have in common? They all have had disappointing debuts on their respective teams.

The jaguars quarterback 2021 is a quarterback that has been drafted into the NFL. He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Since Andrew Luck departed Stanford, and perhaps since Peyton Manning ended at Tennessee, Trevor Lawrence was the most highly touted quarterback prospect to join the NFL. Lawrence didn’t look anything like Luck or Manning in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 37-21 defeat to the Houston Texans, but his shaky start puts him right in line with the two much-hyped prospects who went on to become generational stars.

The number one overall selection In Week 1, Trevor Lawrence battled against the lowly Houston Texans.

When Trevor Lawrence made his Clemson Tigers debut three years ago, there was a lot of buzz about him in the NFL. During his true freshman season, the Cartersville, Georgia native took over the starting position and led Dabo Swinney’s team to a national championship.

At 6-foot-6 and with a cannon arm and legs that could dance around an approaching rush and take off when required, Lawrence was the ideal contemporary NFL QB prospect. He only stayed in college for three seasons because of NFL restrictions. In the 2019 or 2020 drafts, he would have been the first overall selection.

Lawrence was selected as the No. 1 selection in 2021 by the Jacksonville Jaguars as soon as he became eligible, and he was immediately given the keys to the franchise. The signal-caller made such an impression in camp that his experienced backup, Gardner Minshew, was traded away.

Everything seemed to be going swimmingly until the regular season began.

That’s when the Texans, who were projected to be one of the worst teams in the league, literally and metaphorically blitzed Lawrence. The first-year quarterback was stumped by Houston defensive coordinator Lovie Smith. Lawrence was only able to complete 21 of 51 passes (54.9 percent), as he was sacked once and intercepted three times by the defense.

Lawrence’s debut was far from remarkable, despite 332 throwing yards and three touchdowns. It did, however, put him in excellent company.

Lawrence joined Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck as the only quarterbacks to throw three interceptions in their first game.

Peyton got three interceptions in his first game. Andrew Luck recorded three interceptions in his first game. Trevor Lawrence now has three interceptions in his debut.

Andrew Luck made his NFL debut against the Chicago Bears in 2012. (coincidentally coached by Lovie Smith). Luck was rattled by the Bears’ feared defense, which won the game 41-21. Lawrence’s and Luck’s stat lines were remarkably comparable. The Colts quarterback completed 23 of 45 passes (51.1 percent) for a touchdown and three interceptions.

The Colts had drafted another No. 1 overall selection, Peyton Manning, fourteen years before. Indy fell 24-15 to the Miami Dolphins in Manning’s debut, so see if his final statistics seem similar. The Hall of Fame quarterback completed 21 of 37 passes (56.7 percent) for 302 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions.

For those curious, Lovie Smith was the linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1998, thus he wasn’t present for Manning’s first game.

Lawrence’s true test will be to see whose footprints he will follow next.

In his first season, Luck overcame a three-pick game to lead the Colts to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth. Long-term injuries took their toll on Luck, and he retired at the age of 29 after six great seasons.

Manning, on the other side, went 3-13 in his rookie season and led the league with 28 interceptions. However, we all know how the rest ended out. Manning retired as a 14-time Pro Bowler, seven-time All-Pro, five-time MVP, and two-time Super Bowl champion after seventeen seasons.

Urban Meyer and his prized quarterback are ready to move on from the defeat.

After the defeat, both Trevor Lawrence and his first-year, former college head coach Urban Meyer said all the right things, despite the fact that it was Lawrence’s first regular-season loss since high school.

Meyer told ESPN, “We’ve all had our a** kicked before.” “Let’s get this party started. I have faith in the group. I have faith in our team. Return to your job. As a coach and squad leader, you’ll be earning your captain’s and leadership stripes. “However, I have faith in those guys.”

Lawrence said, “It definitely stinks.” “Losing is always difficult, particularly when you feel prepared and have had a fantastic week and really believe you are prepared. It was clear that he didn’t perform well. It all begins with me. “I had a very terrible game tonight.”

Lawrence and Meyer’s journey does not get any easier. The Denver Broncos are coming to town, despite the fact that they are returning to Duval County, where the stadium should be fuller than in previous seasons to welcome Lawrence.

While the Orange Crush of 2021 did not have any interceptions, it did keep New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to under 300 yards passing (267 yards) and kept Saquon Barkley under control (27 all-purpose yards).

Whether Lawrence wins or loses, and regardless of how many interceptions he throws on Sunday, there is still a lot of football to be played before the brilliant quarterback is written out.

Remember that, although Luck and Manning threw three interceptions in their debuts, Sam Bradford and Dwayne Haskins did as well. As a result, you never know.
