LeBron James has been one of the best NBA players for over a decade. He is currently in his 17th season and has won three titles with four different teams. No other player in history can claim this level of success, but it doesn’t seem to matter to Lakers fans who are still holding onto their misguided belief that Russell Westbrook will help them win an elusive championship someday soon despite him playing only five games before LeBron left Cleveland.

The “russell westbrook news” is a sports blog that discusses the latest NBA news and rumors. The blog has recently been discussing how the Lakers are foolishly wasting LeBron James’ greatness behind blind faith in Russell Westbrook.

The Lakers Are Foolishly Wasting LeBron James' Greatness Behind Blind Faith in Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers were all smiles when they announced the signing of Russell Westbrook. Oh, how fast things have changed, with the Lakers teetering on the edge of the Western Conference playoff picture, despite LeBron James’ continuing to prove his agelessness.

The Lakers failed to make a deal to enhance their roster and fuel a playoff drive by missing the trade deadline on Thursday. Furthermore, the lack of mobility indicates that the club will risk squandering James’ talent by putting too much faith in Westbrook.

At the trade deadline, the Lakers remain unmoved.

The NBA trade deadline passed with a lot of activity throughout the league.

However, the Lakers were not part of the shuffling due to the lack of significant interest in their assets. The Athletics‘ Bill Oram reported that Los Angeles’ efforts weren’t met with any feasible deals.

The Lakers had every intention of upgrading their team in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline. Westbrook and Talen Horton-market Tucker’s value was assessed by the front office. Los Angeles was also unable to secure draft assets for DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore, both of whom are veterans.

The franchise had to accept the fact that no other club was interested in serious trade talks. They must also accept another destiny, as suggested by the silent trade deadline.

By putting their faith in Russell Westbrook, the Lakers are squandering LeBron James’ brilliance.

The Lakers’ lack of movement at the trade deadline reflects more than just a lack of desirable assets.

The lack of progress in Los Angeles has shifted the conversation to Russell Westbrook’s future in the city. He’ll be around for the duration of the 2021-22 season at the very least. The $47 million player option for next season is when things get interesting.

Everything has to go back to the Lakers’ choice to acquire Westbrook before things can get to that stage. James played a key role in facilitating the trade, which gave the nine-time All-Star his long-awaited homecoming.

The Lakers’ big move has backfired, leaving them with a point guard who is a liability on both sides of the court. Los Angeles tried to trade Westbrook, but now they’re stuck with him for the remainder of the season.

Regardless of how optimistic James and the Lakers are, the truth remains that the 33-year-old isn’t a good match. When compared to James or Davis, his skill set and playing style are a match made in heaven.

The fact that the four-time league MVP is still producing at a top level adds to the frustration. He’s averaging 29.1 points per game and has a current streak of 21 games with at least 25 points. Furthermore, there’s no guarantee that James will continue to play at a high level for the duration of his time with the Lakers.

Los Angeles must deal with the consequences of their blunder, which might jeopardize James’ last great year.

Will LeBron James’ plans change as a result of the decision?

Despite the team’s best efforts to dodge the topic, LeBron James’ future beyond his contract is gaining traction.

James’ contract continues through the 2022-23 season, after which he may test free agency ahead of his 21st season. The Lakers’ persistent troubles have spurred speculation that he would depart, particularly if a chance to play alongside his son Bronny James arises elsewhere.

Much may change, but the Lakers’ present path does not suggest a bright future. The front management must prepare for a substantial roster overhaul this summer.

If Westbrook exercises his player option, the first priority must be to move him. The Lakers need a well-rounded squad to compliment James and Davis.

Rob Pelinka, the general manager, put himself in this predicament, and now he has figure out how to get out of it.
