Ben Roethlisberger is a man of many words. The quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers is known for saying “I’m a winner” as often as he says hello. But a series of recent comments from Roethlisberger have left some of his biggest fans frustrated. Earlier this week, Roethlisberger took a shot at “hypocritical” critics who are upset with him for being paid so much money. That sparked a wide-ranging debate about the quarterback’s worth, but Roethlisberger wasn’t done there.

The Steelers have been a top team for over 30 years, during which time they have won four Super Bowls and have been an NFL powerhouse. In a recent article, a sports columnist criticized the quarterback for not being able to lead his team to a Super Bowl win. The defender’s response was a passionate defense of the quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger heard it all from his opponents last year. They say the 39-year-old is too old, that his arm strength is not what it used to be, that he can no longer move and that his body is breaking down. Either way, the QB will be back for his 18th season in 2021. NFL season returns. He may not be the player he was in 2004 when he made his appearance at Miami (Ohio) University, but at least one Steelers player is tired of hearing about Roethlisberger’s passing.

Ben Roethlisberger struggled at the end of the 2020 season

word-image-11719 Roethlisberger is a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion. He ranks seventh in passing yards, and if he can get just over 3,000 yards next season, the 6’5โ€ณ QB will move up to fifth. The Steelers have started 2020 11-0, with Big Ben throwing for 3,803 yards, 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. While these numbers look good on paper, there are concerns. His yards per attempt last season were a career low at 6.3, except in 2019 when he appeared in just two games. It’s also troubling that Roethlisberger reacted poorly when things went bad late in the season and teams took away his short passes. He had seven rebounds in his last six games and four in the Steelers’ playoff loss against the Cleveland Browns. To stay with the team he has played for his entire career, Roethlisberger restructured his contract in the offseason. Before the 2021 season, he took a $5 million salary cut.

DL Cam Heyward of the Steelers came in to defend his QB

Cam Hayward is tired of the story Ben Roethlisberger can’t do. This guy is a proven winner, but we’re still willing to lock him up.
