One of the most surprising YouTube videos in history shows a bearded old man shooting a foul shot while blindfolded. The clip has been the subject of much debate in recent years; some say it’s a fake while others believe the man in the video is none other than former NBA champ and current Chicago Bulls team owner, Michael Jordan. Without any further ado, here is a look at the video in question.
Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time. His dominance on the court, unmatched athleticism and ability to dominate with and without the basketball are all hallmarks of the great players of his generation.
Michael Jordan once trolled Dikembe Mutombo by shooting a foul shot with his eyes closed. During a game against the Denver Nuggets, Jordan was given the ball at the top of the arc and attempted to shoot a 3-pointer. However, he quickly realized that Mutombo was guarding him, so he decided to shoot a layup with his eyes closed in an attempt to free himself from Mutombo.

For most basketball fans, Dikembe Mutombo’s name is associated with an extraordinary shot blocker and his taunting on the court. But before he became a big man on campus, he had to be welcomed into the NBA by His Greatness.
According to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times, Jordan met with Mutombo and his Denver Nuggets team in November 1991. MJ went to the free throw line in the final minutes of the game. He turned to the tall newcomer and said: Hey Mutombo, this is for you. Then he closed his eyes and began to throw. No wonder he only hits the net.
A video clip of the game also appeared on social media, courtesy of SportsCenter , who shared the November 2020 NBA telecast. Although Jordan’s conversation is slightly altered in the subtitles by the addition of the word child at the end of his sentence, the rest of the scene is consistent with the written story. His Majesty visibly closes his eyes, then fires.

Michael Jordan wasn’t done with Dikembe Mutombo after that foul
In most cases, if a player was trolled by Michael Jordan, that was enough to make him run for his life. But Mutombo was not one to shy away from a challenge.
As seen in an NBA video on YouTube, Mutombo and MJ sat next to each other in the coach’s box during the 1997 All-Star Game and joked around a bit. The big man, known for his ability to block throws, insisted that Jordan never threw anything at him. As we now know, it was never a good idea to remind His Highness of a failure.
Of course, Mike got his revenge. When the Bulls and Hawks met in the 1997 playoffs, Jordan took a pass from Luke Longley, ran into the penalty box and knocked down Atlanta’s center. He even hit Mutombo with his fingertip, which added salt to the wound.
