The Lakers are in a tough spot. They need to prepare for the worst case scenario when it comes to Anthony Davis. Read more in detail here: when will anthony davis return.

Lakers Need to Prepare for Worst Case Scenario With Anthony Davis

With Anthony Davis out for an extended period of time, the Los Angeles Lakers are in yet another all-too-familiar predicament. Davis has been a victim of what has become an unfortunate destiny in his NBA career: injuries.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have a difficult task in the coming weeks without their star center. Los Angeles is on the verge of falling out of postseason contention, and the team must prepare for the potential that Davis may miss the remainder of the season.

The injury to Anthony Davis is yet another severe blow.

The Lakers’ 2021-22 season has been everything but successful.

Davis sustained a right mid-foot injury, which dealt additional blow to the Lakers’ NBA championship ambitions. Despite the fact that the eight-time All-Star avoided any fractures or breaks, the severity of the injury will keep him out for a long period. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN just confirmed the timeline, saying Davis will be sidelined for another four to five weeks.

His absence puts the Lakers, who are now in ninth place in the Western Conference standings, in a more difficult position to make the playoffs. The franchise may also have to deal with a more sobering truth in regards to its star big man.

With Anthony Davis, the Lakers must prepare for the worst-case scenario.

The Lakers’ grim near future is mostly determined by Anthony Davis’ health, as he is expected to miss another lengthy period of time.

The famous center is expected to return in time for the last few games of the regular season. It’s conceivable, though, that he’ll miss all of the final games until the playoffs. The second option is more plausible since he’s healing from a delicate injury that might cause a setback if not addressed properly.

The Lakers want to avoid losing Davis for the remainder of the season at all costs, but it’s a possibility. Much of this might potentially be determined by Los Angeles’ current record. They are just three-and-a-half games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers in the play-in round.

All of these circumstances make it possible for Davis to miss the remainder of the regular season. If the Lakers aren’t in contention for the playoffs, there’s no need for him to play other than to acquire some experience before the summer.

The team’s performance without the star big man over the next two weeks may ultimately decide if Davis returns in 2021-22.

The Lakers should think about trading their top center.

Davis’ position has ramifications for the Lakers that go beyond his missing another lengthy period of time.

The 28-year-old has battled to remain on the floor since guiding the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship. Last season, he missed 36 games due to leg injuries, including three months owing to a calf condition connected to his Achilles tendon.

Davis hired a new trainer this summer in the hopes of avoiding lingering injuries, but he’s already lost time. He missed 17 games in a row due to a sprained MCL in his left knee, and he might miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

The Lakers’ injury woes raise more serious concerns, particularly as they strive to maximize LeBron James’ remaining window. Davis has consistently shown to the organization that he cannot be counted on as a backup star to James.

When he’s healthy, his brilliance is undeniable, but his availability is a constant source of contention. The Lakers may not rush into looking at trade possibilities for Davis, but it’s something they’ll have to think about next year.
