Kyrie Irving has been a great player for the Boston Celtics, but his All-Star Game votes have come under scrutiny. It is likely that he will not be able to get another chance in this year’s game due to what some are saying was an unfair advantage playing on home court during the Eastern Conference Finals.

The “2016 all-star roster” is a list of the players who made it to the 2016 NBA All-Star game. It was released on January 23rd, 2016. This year’s voting system for the NBA All-Star game is broken because there is no way to know how many votes were cast for each player and there are too many names to count.

Kyrie Irving’s Ridiculous Number of All-Star Votes Proves the NBA Needs to Fix Its Broken System

Irving, Kyrie has been selected to seven NBA All-Star games in his career, and properly so, as he has consistently been one of the best point guards in the league over the previous decade.

The keyword in that statement, though, was “playing.”

Irving – who just made his season debut this week – was one of the top vote-getters among guards, according to the NBA’s early fan returns for this year’s All-Star voting. He was rated higher than a number of other deserving players.

Whether you like Irving or not, you have to accept that the results are absurd, and they plainly demonstrate that the league’s dysfunctional system has to be fixed.

In NBA All-Star voting, Kyrie Irving finished sixth among Eastern Conference guards.

On Jan. 6, the NBA published its inaugural All-Star voting fan results, and although there were a few stumbling blocks, the largest was in the ranks for Eastern Conference guards.

Take a look at the East’s best-performing guards.

  1. DeMar DeRozan is a player who plays for the Toronto Raptors.
  2. James Harden is a basketball player from the United States.
  3. Trae Young is a professional basketball player.
  4. Zach LaVine is a professional basketball player.
  5. Ball, LaMelo
  6. Kyrie Irving
  7. Rose, Derrick
  8. Herro, Tyler
  9. Garland, Darius
  10. VanVleet, Fred

Irving has gotten 267,929 votes so far, indicating that his supporters have been busier this year than he has been.

Despite a New York City rule requiring citizens to be vaccinated to enter New York venues, Kyrie made his season debut on Jan. 5 after refusing to acquire the COVID-19 vaccination. The Brooklyn Nets didn’t want him to play part-time at first, but they changed their minds, resulting in his latest participation. He’ll only play in away games from now on.

As a result, by the time the league issued the initial results, Irving had only appeared in one game all season, while other players had spent the whole season in the trenches. Yes, he’s a fantastic player, but the fact that he hadn’t played for his side in over a month demonstrates that the results aren’t fair.

What distinguishes Irving from athletes like Tyler Herro and Darius Garland?

The votes only indicate one thing: the NBA’s dysfunctional system must be fixed.

The NBA’s dysfunctional system must be fixed.

The next update on NBA All-Star fan voting will be released on Thursday, January 13. pic.

According to, fan votes contribute for half of the overall vote in determining the starters for the All-Star game. Players and members of the media each get one vote, which accounts for 25% of the total. The 14 reserves, seven from each conference, were then chosen by the coaches.

While 50% is already much too high for the fan vote, they also receive additional ballots to fill out. From December 25 through January 22, fans may cast one vote each day on the NBA app and the league website. They may vote for up to ten players every day on Twitter, and their votes are worth twice as much on five specific days.

As a consequence, not only do fans account for a larger share of the ultimate outcome, but they also get many votes, whilst players and media members each receive just one.

Yes, allowing fans to vote is a great way to increase engagement and marketing. However, for the interest of justice, the NBA should at least reduce its authority, particularly given the fact that certain fan bases are greater than others.

The NFL’s fan vote accounts for one-third of the ultimate conclusion, yet even they have some absurd results from time to time. For example, linebacker Darius Leonard of the Indianapolis Colts was named first-team All-Pro in 2018 but did not make the Pro Bowl.

So, how many unworthy players make the NBA’s All-Star squads if the NFL still has difficulties despite its fans not wielding nearly as much power?

There are probably too many.

There are other NBA players that are worthy of All-Star selections more than Kyrie Irving.

The NBA made the proper decision by allowing fans to vote on just the starters, meaning that their votes only count for 10 of the 24 players. Nonetheless, their clout results in a few snubs each year.

Devin Booker didn’t make the Western Conference All-Star squad in 2021 despite being added to the roster to replace an ailing Anthony Davis. Kemba Walker was a starter among Eastern Conference guards in 2020, but Bradley Beal, who averaged over 30.0 points that season, was left out entirely.

This season, there might be a few snubs, particularly if Kyrie Irving’s vote count plays a factor in the final outcome.

Irving has received more votes than both Darius Garland and Fred VanVleet. Garland has guided a resurgent Cavs team into the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff chase this season, averaging 19.7 points and 7.4 assists. VanVleet, on the other hand, is a significant reason why the Toronto Raptors are also in contention for a playoff place, averaging 21.3 points and 6.7 assists per game.

If it comes down to it, coaches should give someone like Garland or VanVleet the nod over Irving, hopefully. However, if Irving’s supporters continue to vote for him, the most deserved player in All-Star history might participate in the big game.

Kyrie Irving is an NBA superstar that has been a top player for years. He’s also the leader of the Boston Celtics and one of the most popular players in the league. However, despite being one of the best players in basketball, he’s only made it to two All-Star games. This is because there are many flaws with how votes are counted and distributed for NBA stars.
