Watt has taken a big step to honor another NFL legend in the NFL in the recent week, and that is by honoring one of the most respected players to ever play in the NFL, Pat Tillman. The Texans defensive end announced a plan to honor the former Arizona Cardinals player by changing the color of his jersey to a special tribute to him.

In one of his first actions with his new team, the defender announced that he will honor team legend and American hero Pat Tillman with a new signature shoe.
Pat Tillman died in 2004 while serving his country
One of the most inspiring stories in the history of the NFL, and perhaps America, is that of Pat Tillman. The Arizona Cardinals selected the quarterback from Arizona State with the 226th pick. 1998 NFL Draft pick. In his four years with the Cardinals, Tillman started 39 of 60 games, threw three interceptions and had 374 interceptions. Tillman was on the verge of becoming a long-time NFL player then, in Week 11. September 2001 changed everything. After the 2001 season, Tillman felt called to serve his country. He left the NFL and a $3.6 million contract offer. The events of 11. September made such an impression on the player that he and his brother Kevin joined the U.S. Army Rangers. Tillman, then 27, was shot and killed in 2004 while serving in Afghanistan. According to Reuters, the army initially classified the incident as an enemy ambush, but an investigation later revealed that it was actually its own fire.

Watt has long been a strong supporter of the U.S. military. In May 2021, the new Cardinal announced on Twitter that he had collaborated with Reebok and Pat Tillman’s widow, Marie Tillman, to create a new signature shoe.
