After a devastating blowout defeat against the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers experienced another disheartening setback. The squad’s poor performance added gasoline to the fire of criticism, prompting Hall of Famer Magic Johnson to openly criticize the club. Russell Westbrook, the star point guard, instantly retaliated with a sharp retort.

The Lakers have lost their past three games in a row, which is yet another dismal run for the team.
The most recent setback was a lopsided road loss to the Nuggets on Saturday night, in which they were outplayed on both sides of the court. Denver shot 57.5 percent (23-of-40) from beyond the arc while throwing up 35 assists on 47 made field goals.
The Nuggets extended their advantage to 42 points in the fourth quarter, while the Lakers concluded with just three players scoring in double figures. Los Angeles’ poor performance prompted Hall of Famer Magic Johnson to trash the team on Twitter.
“We as Lakers fans can understand being outplayed after getting blasted out 133-96 by the Nuggets, but we want more than a lack of effort and a lack of urgency,” Johnson wrote. “You deserve better, Jeanie Buss, as the owner.”
Johnson’s scathing assessment comes after each of the Lakers’ three consecutive defeats has seen them surrender at least 125 points. Russell Westbrook reacted angrily as a result of all of this.

Magic Johnson isn’t one to hold his voice when it comes to the Lakers’ performance.
The Hall of Fame point guard’s remarks rapidly gained momentum, prompting a reporter to question Westbrook about the former Lakers great’s remark following Saturday’s defeat, to which he properly selected his words while responding in a snippy reaction.
Westbrook told ESPN, “I don’t have a response.” “In our world, everyone has the right to their own views.” It doesn’t matter what it is. You can either run with it, or you can put it in one ear and out the other, or you can’t react to it at all.
“Magic has a right to his viewpoint.” And he isn’t around every day. He isn’t with us every day. He has no idea what’s going on with us inside and is attempting to work things out. But I don’t have anything to say about it… As I already said, everyone in the globe has the right to their own viewpoint.”
Westbrook, like the rest of his teammates, is irritated by their inability to develop any kind of rhythm or consistency. After a hectic summer that included the signing of the former league MVP, the Lakers are nothing near the club they intended to be.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, is mired near the basement of the Western Conference playoff standings. The criticism will continue to pour in as long as the Lakers falter, particularly from Johnson and others connected to the organization.
Westbrook’s sharp answer was tinged with snippiness, but it’s difficult to dismiss the team’s persistently leaky performance.
The Lakers’ time is running out.

Johnson’s remarks highlight the greater situation, as the Lakers have been performing well below expectations.
Los Angeles is in eighth place in the Western Conference despite LeBron James’ ongoing excellence, ranking second with 28.9 points per game. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis’ lengthy absence has only exacerbated their problems, particularly on defense, where they now rank 27th in the league, allowing 113.3 points per game.
Davis’ return will help to fill some of those gaps, but it will require a team effort to put the organization closer to a realistic possibility of contending for an NBA championship. It’s difficult to see the Lakers having a bright future at this juncture, but they still have time to work it out, and the clock is ticking.
