Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently leading the way for the Milwaukee Bucks at the top of the Eastern Conference, making him the clear MVP of the best-of-seven series. With only a few games left, it is time to determine which of the remaining players have the best chance of dethroning Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo seems to be possessive of his “Greek Freak” moniker. Who can blame him for wanting to destroy the individuals pulling money out of his wallet, considering the praise and accolades he received for guiding the Bucks to their first league championship in half a century?

Consider what would happen if Antetokounmpo could consistently shoot free throws. Right now, the guy would be rolling in dough.
But wait, there’s more. He’s already there.
On the eve of the just-concluded NBA season, Antetokounmpo agreed to a five-year contract for $228,200,420 with the Bucks. This works up to a staggering $45,640,084 each season. By the spring of 2026, if he exercises his player option, his career earnings will have risen to more than $374 million.
It’s a huge sum of money, and it’s becoming more difficult to justify not giving the 26-year-old Greek native every cent of it.
According to Forbes, Antetokounmpo earns an estimated $25 million per year through sponsorships in addition to his contract. He has connections to big corporations such as Anheuser Busch, Electronic Arts, and Nike, to mention a few.
Antetokounmpo is now the sole owner of an NBA championship basketball club as well as a financial empire. Even if the Bucks can’t keep up their winning ways, his bank account will.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is pursuing anyone attempting to profit off him.
While Antetokounmpo was driving the Suns over the coals in the finals, averaging 35.2 points and 13.2 rebounds per game, with 5.0 assists thrown in for good measure, his attorneys were pursuing lesser-known opponents.
During the finals, Antetokounmpo’s attorneys filed a lawsuit against five people, according to RadarOnline.com. The defendants are accused of exploiting his ‘Greek Freak’ brand on clothing and other items without his authorization, according to court papers.
Such behavior by sportsmen and entertainers is frequent, and a simple cease-and-desist letter with a list of damages usually settles the matter. Antetokounmpo’s attorneys, on the other hand, claim that the defendants ignored the warning and proceeded to benefit on the player’s name and reputation.
The federal complaint was brought in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York as a consequence of this.
Surprisingly frequently, the ‘Greek Freak’ goes through this.
Back-to-back MVP awards in 2019 and 2020 elevated Antetokounmpo’s basketball and business profiles. Others have attempted to get around cutting the Bucks star in on the money by licensing his name and his “Greek Freak” trademark several times.
Since Antetokounmpo successfully trademarked “Greek Freak” in 2018, his attorneys have filed 51 intellectual property infringement cases, according to Law360.com. He also has an application for “Greek Fr34k” pending.
According to the website, defendants in 39 instances reached settlements or had charges dismissed, while three others resulted in default judgments giving the player a total of $140,000. Three additional lawsuits seem to be on their way to Antetokounmpo getting a default judgment in his favor.
It is unavoidable that individuals will continue to attempt to profit from the Buck. They should remember, though, that Antetokounmpo can afford to hire his attorneys much more than they can afford to pay theirs.
