Last year, the Defensive Rookie of the Year was the impressive Jalen Ramsey. But did he have the skills to be a dominant player in the NFL? A lot of people think so, and they’re hoping that Ramsey will be able to show it in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams. The expectation is that Ramsey will become the next great shutdown corner. It seems that his ability to lock down and lock up with any receiver is what makes him such a great player.

In 2017, the Los Angeles Rams signed All-Pro cornerback and potential future Hall of Famer, Jalen Ramsey. The move was expected to speed up the team’s rebuilding effort, with a young and talented defense that ranked first in the NFL last season. However, the Rams offense struggled mightily, dropping to fourth in total yardage and 13 th in scoring. Will the addition of Ramsey and the rest of the Rams’ offseason moves pay off? Or is it too much too soon?

The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this season, and the team held on to win the AFC South with a 9-7 record.

As a consequence, Tom Coughlin seems to have wounded Jalen Ramsey’s emotions, prompting the outstanding cornerback to request a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars early in the 2019 NFL season. Ramsey should get used to it since some players who have won Super Bowl rings are defending their former coach by trampling on his emotions once again.

Jalen Ramsey said that Tom Coughlin was despised by the Jacksonville Jaguars’ players.

Coughlin was the Jaguars’ inaugural head coach, then coached the New York Giants to two Super Bowl wins before returning to the team in a front-office position in 2017. That first year back, the Jaguars improved seven games in the standings and advanced to the AFC Championship Game.

Coughlin’s hardline approach toward discipline had alienated most of the locker room two years later. Ramsey told Aqib Talib on the Catchin’ Fades podcast that the players hated Coughlin’s approach. Though controversial at the time, Coughlin’s tactics created discipline on the field, which resulted to wins in Super Bowls 42 and 46.

Ramsey stated, as reported by Audacy.com, “We came together and we formed a connection… that we were going to fight for one other, ride for each other, because to be honest, we (didn’t) like Tom Coughlin.” “It all boiled down to that.”

After the Jaguars’ 13-12 defeat to the Houston Texans on Sept. 15, 2019, Ramsey claimed to another club official that Coughlin treated him disrespectfully. Coughlin has previously chastised Ramsey and linebacker Telvin Smith for missing optional offseason exercises.

It can’t be overstated how important the term “voluntary” is in the phrase “voluntary offseason exercises,” so it’s easy to root for Ramsey, a two-time first-team All-Pro since joining the NFL in 2016.

The offseason roster, on the other hand, might be as large as 75 players. When just two of them skip those volunteer exercises for non-medical reasons, it may send a message to the rest of the guys in the room about their dedication.

“Championship teams are controlled by unselfish people who understand that the welfare of the team must always be paramount to any other consideration,” Coughlin said on the website.

Former Giants players speak out in support of Coughlin.

After hearing Ramsey’s comments on the podcast, many of Coughlin’s former Giants players responded angrily and negatively.

Lawrence Tynes, the Giants’ kicker for both Super Bowl championships with Coughlin as coach, was one of them.

Tynes tweeted, “Tom is not for everyone, but he is for those that want to hoist up that Lombardi Trophy.”

Brandon Jacobs, who played for the Giants for eight years and was a member of the team that won the Super Bowl following the 2008 season, seconded the motion.

“You are a true champion and a true leader!!! He said on Twitter, “Tom Coughlin is all we needed to be champs.” “Without him, we don’t win s—; we played for Tom.”

Rich Seubert, an offensive lineman, launched the most potent blow against Ramsey, saying he “may not enjoy being held responsible.”

Every tale has two (or more) sides, and Ramsey’s perspective may be quite believable. However, the fact that numerous players put up with Coughlin’s demands and still support him after all these years indicates that Jaguars players were too set in their ways – the same flaw that Ramsey saw with Coughlin.
