The Dallas Cowboys have been engulfed in a scandal after a video surfaced of Elliott’s mother, Tiffany, talking about her son and the team. The Cowboys are currently trying to figure out how to handle the situation while also preparing for their game against the Redskins on Sunday night.
The practice squad nfl salary is a practice squad member of the NFL who makes less than $25,000 per year. Ezekiel Elliott’s mother has been critical of his downward spiral and has even gone as far as to say that he should not be allowed to play football anymore.
We’d ask whether you remember when Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was still considered one of the league’s best, but there’s a sizable number of football fans who believe he is.
Those who support the Ohio State product or have him on their fantasy football teams are in for some unpleasant news. Things keep getting worse for the three-time Pro Bowl pick, as his mother and a practice squad safety recently demonstrated.
Ezekiel Elliott had a rough start to the season, and his mother didn’t help matters.
Even if you don’t believe in moral victories, it’s difficult to blame the Cowboys for feeling upbeat after a Week 1 defeat to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dak Prescott, the star quarterback, recovered from an ankle injury last season and almost led America’s Team to an upset win on national television.
On the way home, though, Elliott didn’t have much to grin about. Against the Buccaneers’ strong run defense, he only gained 33 yards on 11 runs and added two receptions for six yards.
Even yet, there’s a big difference between being able to gain yards because of Buccaneers defensive lineman Vita Vea and getting into problems (pun intended) against safety Andrew Adams. If you don’t know who Adams is, he’s a 28-year-old safety who was brought up from Tampa Bay’s practice squad just before kickoff.
On 3rd-and-2 at the Buccaneers’ 2-yard line, it was the former UConn Huskie who stuffed Elliott for a one-yard loss. At the time, the Cowboys were behind 21-16 and had to settle for a field goal. Given the team’s five-point loss, we can all agree that a touchdown would have made a huge difference in that situation.
After the game, things got much worse. In support of Elliott, a non-verified account claiming to be Elliott’s mother, Dawn, tweeted an unacceptable remark. Earlier this year, the Pro Bowl running back replied to the account, calling her “Momma E.”
Elliott has not responded to his mother’s tweet as of the time of publishing.
Since the conclusion of the 2019 season, Elliott has experienced a slew of problems.

Whatever the reason or how you slice it, the fact is that Elliott and the Cowboys have been frustrated constantly for the last 20 months or so.
In the summer of 2020, the veteran running back tested positive for COVID-19. Despite starting 15 games last season, he had career-lows in running yards and yards per carry.
Since the start of the 2020 season, the dangerous running back has only surpassed 100 rushing yards in two games. While some of the fault may be attributed to his offensive line, we can all agree that Elliott has fallen short of his objective of leading the Cowboys to success. Even in today’s game, talented running backs can overcome a mediocre offensive line.
Elliott has run for 1,012 yards and six touchdowns in his past 16 games, averaging 3.97 yards per attempt, which we can round up to four yards. Most teams would use their starting running back’s numbers. The Cowboys, on the other hand, want more from a player in the third year of a six-year, $90 million deal.
Fans of the Cowboys should not give up on Elliott just yet.

Pundits and so-called Twitter experts may urge the Cowboys to start planning to part ways with Elliott or hand the ball over to backup Tony Pollard, who rushed for 29 yards on four attempts in Week 1. Remember that the backup player is always the superior choice.
That’s not going to happen. Elliott started the game without right guard Zack Martin, who was out due to COVID-19, and faced a formidable Buccaneers front seven. On national television, few, if any, anticipated him to run for 150 yards and two scores.
Elliott still has plenty of time to get back on track. In Week 2, the Cowboys face Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers before facing the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football later in the month. Last year, the veteran running back set a season best with 105 rushing yards in a Week 16 win against the Eagles.
If Elliott’s problems turn out to be a long-term issue, the Cowboys will have to deal with it in the coming months. However, the team’s chances of winning a sixth Super Bowl remain alive for the time being, and Elliott is an important component of achieving that objective.
What are the chances? Elliott’s mother may tweet a picture of herself and her son carrying the Lombardi Trophy at the conclusion of the season. That, we believe, would be a much better use of her social media time than yelling at followers.
