In 1997, former NBA star Dennis Rodman was embroiled in a high-profile argument with NBA champion Scottie Pippen at the Vogue nightclub in Las Vegas, and it wasn’t long before Rodman was involved in a nightclub brawl.
This week on the Sports Vision podcast, the guys talk about the NBA. With the NBA All-Star Game starting this weekend, the guys talk about the players who should be All-Stars and players who may not be. Then, the guys discuss the Golden State Warriors and how they can improve their team chemistry. Finally, the guys discuss the Dennis Rodman/Scottie Pippen story that’s making headlines this week.
As a teenager, my brother and I would watch “Bill Nye The Science Guy” every weekend. But rather than watching the show for science and learning, we watched it for the comedy. Most of the time the jokes were based off of the guests on the show, and one of the guests was a man named Dennis Rodman.
Dennis Rodman was known for his iconic personality when he played for the Chicago Bulls; the Hall of Fame member loved to have fun. Since his legendary sports career, many incredible stories have been told about Rodman, and some of them are even included in The Last Dance. Rodman’s desire to live life to the fullest, however, once led to an anxious moment for Scottie Pippen, who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.Fortunately for both, the fans were there to save the day.
There are many legendary stories about Dennis Rodman
.
Dennis Rodman was – and still is – one of the most interesting personalities in the NBA. From his cute hairstyles to his performance on the field, Rodman has always caught the attention of fans.
He also lived fully off the field.
In The Last Dance, we learned how Phil Jackson gave Rodman a 48-hour timeout in Las Vegas during the 1997-98 season. However, he was not home on time, and Michael Jordan had to come and get him from the room where he was staying with his superstar girlfriend Carmen Electra, according to USA Today.
Of course there are many more interesting Rodman stories, but Pippen recently shared a memory from one of their many championship parties.
Dennis Rodman scared Scotty Pippen by jumping into the audience
.
Pippen recently appeared on The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotzon and was asked to share his favorite Rodman story.
Of course, Pippen wasn’t talking about anything too extreme and said: I don’t think you have enough time to talk about Dennis.
But he told an amazing story about how they celebrated the championship.
I had some good memories with Dennis, he said in episode 22. June. … We were at a party at a club called Drink. And there were so many people celebrating with us. Suddenly I looked over, we were on the top floor and Dennis was entertaining the crowd. Then, suddenly, he dove into the crowd.
Pippen said it was pretty scary at first, but the fans saved the day.
All the fans hugged him and gave him a soft landing, Pippen said. But that was Dennis. He always lived on the edge, but was a very reliable teammate.
Looks like Rodman and Pippen had a great time that night. And it’s a good thing fans didn’t drop the two-time Defensive Player of the Year too far, because he won two more championships with the Bulls.

Of course, that’s not the only title Rodman and Pippen have celebrated together.
After winning two titles with the Detroit Pistons in 1988-89 and 1989-90, Rodman was finally part of the Bulls roster for the 1995-96 season.
This year was Jordan’s first full season after his initial departure from the team, and the Bulls had a historic season. They won the title 72-10 and led the team to three consecutive championships. Rodman averaged 11.3 rebounds in those three seasons, while Pippen averaged 17.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Jordan was the best player on that team – and in the league – averaging 31.4 points per game and 6.0 rebounds in his three postseason games.
Fans may know Rodman for his entertaining personality, but he understood his role with the Bulls to help Chicago win championships. These titles in turn gave him and his teammates more and more reason to celebrate.
However, I hope he doesn’t scare Pippen after tonight.
