After the Philadelphia Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Minnesota Vikings, Darius Leonard took a shot at his old team. He ripped their front office for trading away one of their best players in favor of an older player who may not be as good anymore.

The “indianapolis colts roster” is a trade that has sent shockwaves through the NFL. Darius Leonard, who was drafted by the Colts in 2017, ripped the front office after they traded Carson Wentz to Philadelphia.

Darius Leonard Rips Indianapolis Colts Front Office After Carson Wentz Trade

The Indianapolis Colts were adamant on moving quarterback Carson Wentz this summer, and they finally did so on Wednesday, sending the quarterback to the Washington Commanders. While fans may be ecstatic about the change, it seems that players like Darius Leonard are not.

The standout linebacker revealed the unflattering reality about the head office and the team’s prospects for the next season. They’ve gone through five starting quarterbacks in the last five years, with nothing to show for it.

After a poor season, the Indianapolis Colts traded Carson Wentz.

The Indianapolis Colts have a very straightforward playoff-clinching situation in Week 18: win, and they’ll be in the playoffs in 2021.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have the No. 1 choice in the 2022 NFL Draft, then upset the Colts 26-11 to end the Colts’ postseason hopes.

The Colts’ management staff lost trust in quarterback Carson Wentz after that loss. The same individuals that handed the Philadelphia Eagles a first and a third-round selection to acquire Wentz the previous year, including general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich, were anxious to get rid of him only 18 games later.

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, the Colts made this a reality, shipping Wentz to the Washington Commanders. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter, the Colts sent their starting QB and a 2022 second-round pick one way, and the Commanders sent back a 2022 second- and third-round pick and a 2023 third, which could become a second if Wentz plays enough next season.

While fans and Colts management clearly wanted Wentz gone as quickly as possible, some players, including the team’s top player, Darius Leonard, rushed to social media following the deal to express their displeasure.

All-Pro Linebacker On social media, Darius Leonard took a jab at the Indianapolis Colts’ front management.

We’re at it again! It’ll be my fifth year with the Colts, and I’ve had five different quarterbacks! Thank you, Carson, for all you’ve done for me this year! I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors!

While some Indianapolis Colts players voiced displeasure with the team’s decision to release the divisive Carson Wentz, fans on social media applauded the move.

Colts wide receiver Zach Pascal took to Twitter and posted a poop emoji before writing, “getting old.”

But it was Darius Leonard, the team’s top player, who made the most alarming statement. The All-Pro linebacker recently finished his fourth season with the Colts. During his short professional career. Leonard has already earned Defensive Rookie of the Year, three Pro Bowl appearances, and three All-Pro honors.

He’ll also be entering his sixth NFL season with his fifth starting quarterback, something he didn’t seem to like following the Wentz deal. “Here we go again!” Leonard commented before wishing “my buddy” Wentz the best of luck at his next stop. It’ll be my fifth year with the Colts, and I’ve had five different quarterbacks!”

While it’s difficult to properly comprehend tone on Twitter, it doesn’t seem like Leonard is pleased with the Colts brass for failing to maintain a starting quarterback for back-to-back seasons in his whole career.

In the last five years, there have been five starting quarterbacks.

Darius Leonard’s tweet is both an assault on the Indianapolis Colts’ head staff and a simple statement of facts.

The Colts’ quarterback position was one of the strongest in the NFL in 2018. Andrew Luck, then 29 years old, was in his sixth season with the Indianapolis Colts that year and seemed to be on track to play at least another six, based on QB longevity these days.

Unfortunately for the Colts, Luck unexpectedly announced his retirement on the eve of the 2019 season, leaving the team scrambling for a quarterback. Without a full summer to find a new quarterback, the club relied on veteran Jacoby Brissett to carry the weight that season.

The Colts looked to improve with a more experienced veteran in the 2020 summer after Brissett guided them to a 7-9 season. The organization inked a contract with former Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Rivers had a strong season, guiding the club to an 11-5 record and a postseason spot.

The Colts lost their playoff game to the Buffalo Bills, and Rivers retired a few weeks later.

Carson Wentz was up next. The Eagles moved the 2017 No. 2 overall draft selection to the Midwest after he flamed out in Philadelphia due to injuries and personality concerns. Last season, the 29-year-old quarterback threw for 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.

The 2021 Colts, on the other hand, won thanks to Jonathan Taylor’s rushing and Leonard’s defense, and Wentz appeared to falter whenever the team needed him the most.

Now, six months before the 2022 season, the Colts are without a starting quarterback, and all we know is that it will be the franchise’s fifth in five years, as Leonard pointed out.
