Considered the best quarterback since Tom Brady, Dak Prescott is making a name for himself in Dallas and on the national scene. However, this past Sunday former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky threw some shade at him by leaving ‘Dak’ off his top 10 list of quarterbacks who win games because they’re simply better than their opponents.

Dan Orlovsky has been on the Dallas Cowboys since 2007 and is currently the team’s backup quarterback. He recently released his list of “win games because of” which includes Dak Prescott, but not in a good way. Read more in detail here: dak prescott height.

When it comes to NFL quarterbacks, ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky enjoys stirring the pot. This time, the former backup quarterback accomplished it by tweeting a list of 11 “NFL quarterbacks you win games due of right now.” The list sparked outrage, particularly since Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was left off.

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky has picked his 11 favorite quarterbacks in the NFL right now.

In the NFL right now, you win games because of quarterbacks.

As we reach 100 days until the 2022 NFL season, chatter about the league next season is picking up. ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky added to the discourse by tweeting his list of the “In the NFL right now, you win games because of quarterbacks..”

“Because of” is the important term here. In the NFL, there are plenty of quarterbacks who can win your team games, and enough who can win it all if the conditions are perfect. However, there are just a few teams who win “as a result of.”

Sports Illustrated’s NFL insider Albert Breer defined this argument, tweeting, “I’ve had the ‘win with’ vs. ‘win b/c of’ argument for years with people … and to me the ‘win because of’ list should be defined by guys who win almost regardless of what’s around them, b/c they legit make everyone better.

On Orlovsky’s list were 11 NFL quarterbacks:

  • Allen, Josh
  • Burrow, Joe
  • Lamar Jackson is a rapper from the United States.
  • Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback in the National Football League.
  • Derek Carr is a professional football player.
  • Justin Herbert is a writer who lives in the United
  • Watson, Deshaun
  • Russell Wilson is a famous American actor.
  • Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback in the NFL.
  • Tom Brady is a quarterback for the New England Patriot
  • Stafford, Matthew

Orlovsky compiled a strong list that includes the majority of the NFL’s best quarterbacks for 2022. One top quarterback is noticeably missing from the list, and a couple others certainly shouldn’t be on it in the first place.

Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys was noticeably absent from the list.

With 11 NFL quarterbacks on his list, Dan Orlovsky has covered almost all of the league’s so-called best quarterbacks. Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys is the one notable name missing off the list.

The Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East in 2021 with a 12-5 record and the league’s top scoring offense. Prescott was eighth in passing yards (4,449), completions (410), completion percentage (68.8%), and passing touchdowns (tied for fourth) (37).

You’d think Prescott would be on the “win because of” list with these figures. Orlovsky appeared on the Pat McAfee Show to explain why he didn’t.

Prescott fared well early in his career, according to the then-year NFL backup quarterback, because he had “one of the finest offensive lines in the previous 20 years in the NFL.” According to Orlovsky, as the Cowboys’ talent declined, so did Prescott’s productivity. The former Mississippi State Bulldog’s return to prominence was aided by the acquisition of Amari Cooper.

Orlovsky responded to the claim that the Cowboys reached the playoffs last season by saying:

Outside of their division, they went 6-6. I’m not a big believer in quarterback victory totals or anything like that. I’m simply letting you know… Find me a run of games when the Cowboys went 3-1 because Dak performed so well while Tyron Smith wasn’t playing, or Zeke Elliott wasn’t playing, or Amari Cooper wasn’t playing, or the defense gave up 30 points. It isn’t there.

On Dak Prescott, Dan Orlovsky

While Orlovsky makes an excellent argument, it’s difficult to single out Prescott as a quarterback who can’t win without top-tier talent when others on this list are in the same boat.

Several players on the list should have been removed.

Of the players on the “win because of” list above, Dan Orlovsky is right about eight names. Allen, Josh, Burrow, Joe, Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback in the National Football League., Justin Herbert is a writer who lives in the United, Watson, Deshaun, Russell Wilson is a famous American actor., Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback in the NFL., and Tom Brady is a quarterback for the New England Patriot are all deservedly on that list.

However, three names belong with Dak Prescott on the “win with” list. Those are Lamar Jackson is a rapper from the United States., Derek Carr is a professional football player., and Stafford, Matthew.

Jackson has shown that he can’t win without a strong ground game or if he has to throw 40 times a game, as Allen, Mahomes, Brady, and others often do.

Carr entered the playoffs for the first time in 2021, so claiming the Las Vegas Raiders won due of him seems a touch off-base.

Similarly, Stafford demonstrated in Detroit for 12 years that a club cannot win without him. Then he joins a team that is going all-in to win the Super Bowl that season, and he succeeds in doing so, winning the Lombardi Trophy. That is the difference between “winning because of” and “winning with.”

Orlovsky certainly got it wrong, but the fact that he put it out there and began the dialogue with football still 100 days away is still impressive.
