After enduring a tough season, Emmitt Smith says it’s time for the Cowboys to plan for life after Tony Romo.

The “emmitt smith” is a Cowboys Hall of Famer that has been with the team for more than 20 years. He sounds off on the current state of the franchise, saying it’s “frustrating as hell.”

Cowboys Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith Sounds off on the Current State of the Franchise: ‘Frustrating as Hell’

Every year, the Dallas Cowboys approach a new season with great hopes. They, on the other hand, are often disappointed. The 2021 season was no exception, as Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith noticed a worrying pattern.

The three-time Super Bowl champion in Dallas understands what it takes to reach the top. Smith feels that the present squad has the potential to do great things, but that it is being squandered.

Emmitt Smith has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys came back in a big manner in 2021 after ending with a 6-10 record in 2020. Mike McCarthy’s team won the NFC East with an outstanding 12-5 record.

The Cowboys went into the NFL playoffs with momentum but laid an egg against the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round. The 23-17 loss at AT&T Stadium was a brutal gut punch to an otherwise promising campaign.

Emmitt Smith, the Hall of Fame running back, recently spoke on San Antonio Sports Star to evaluate the team’s present status.

“When I look at our Cowboys, I’m trying to figure out who we’re going to be,” Smith said. “Are we going to keep doing the same thing?” Or are we going to squander all of this potential over a three-, four-, or five-year period, thinking and expecting to achieve greatness by doing the same things over and over again?”

Smith recognizes how difficult it is to reach the Super Bowl, and he fears that the Cowboys’ window of opportunity may shut if they don’t get it together.

“It’s really aggravating,” he remarked. “You see how wonderful talent is squandered!” You can watch the passage of time! And the supporters are just going to grow more and more irritated. “With Jerry, the team, and everything else,” says the narrator.

Dallas hasn’t gone to the Super Bowl since Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown was a member of the team.

The Cowboys haven’t gone to the Super Bowl in a long time. Emmitt Smith was the starting running back the previous time Dallas made it to the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys have a long and illustrious history. All-time, the club has won five Super Bowl titles. Smith was a major player in three of them.

From 1992 through 1995, Dallas won three Super Bowls. Smith was a key member of an offensive line that included Hall of Famers Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin. During that time, the fan base swelled dramatically.

The Cowboys, dubbed “America’s Team,” are expected to have won a lot more lately. That hasn’t always been the case, however. Since winning the Super Bowl in 1996, the franchise has had 13 consecutive winning seasons. Dallas has made the playoffs 11 times, but has never advanced beyond the Divisional Round.

Mike McCarthy’s team had one of the most talented rosters in recent Cowboys history. Despite this, the crew failed to complete the task when it mattered most.

How can the Cowboys avoid squandering talent in 2022?

Emmitt Smith is concerned that the Dallas Cowboys are squandering their potential, and he is correct.

In 2021, Dallas had one of the most skilled rosters in the NFL. Kellen Moore had the best offense in the NFL, averaging 407 yards and 31.1 points per game. Dak Prescott has recovered well from his devastating ankle injury. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and CeeDee Lamb were among the offense’s many excellent skill players.

In 2021, the Cowboys performed better than predicted on defense. Second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs and rookie linebacker Micah Parsons were discovered as diamonds by new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. During the regular season, the defense was placed in the top ten.

Given Dallas’ regular-season excellence, the team should have fared better in the playoffs. So, how can the Cowboys prevent a repeat performance in 2022?

That is a difficult question to answer. Mike McCarthy and both coordinators were brought back by Jerry Jones. McCarthy isn’t to blame for the team’s problems, but he’s also not the greatest candidate for the position.

Simply simply, the Cowboys must figure out how to make the most of the talent on their roster. They’ve exhausted all of their rationalizations. It’s time to step up, or the fans’ discontent will reach new heights (and Emmitt Smith).
