With the Braves struggling, their star first baseman is set to join a rival. While many are cheering for Freddie Freeman, Braves owner Alex Wood took aim at him and called his move “sad.” The Dodgers have won two World Series in recent years and own an impressive list of players including MVP award winners Corey Seager and Justin Turner. Meanwhile, the Atlanta’s best player this year was third baseman Christian Yelich who had just signed with Miami as a free agent after deciding not to exercise his opt-out clause.

The “freddie freeman wife” is a story that has been floating around for a while. The Braves owner took a shot at Freeman for joining the Dodgers.

Braves Owner Takes a Salty Shot at Freddie Freeman for Joining the Dodgers

Freddie Freeman has known his time with the Atlanta Braves was coming to an end since last summer. Freeman wanted to stay with the franchise that had selected him. However, because to the team’s unwillingness to pay him, he signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency.

The five-time All-Star joins a Dodgers squad that is aiming for a strong World Series run. Terry McGuirk, the owner of the Atlanta Braves, couldn’t help but criticize the former league MVP for his handling of the matter.

Despite the fact that it was expected that Freeman would depart the Braves, the great first baseman’s decision remained a mystery.

Once the MLB and the players’ union reached a new labor agreement, Freeman lost no time in choosing his future. After contract negotiations with the Braves stalled, the 32-year-old elected to play with the Dodgers.

Freeman’s decision brings an end to a 12-year career with the Braves, during which he established himself as one of the game’s top players and was a vital part of the team’s World Series championship run in 2021. Terry McGuirk, the owner of the Braves, took a sly swipe at him as he begins his first season with the Dodgers.

“The economic fact is… that we can contend for a championship every year,” stated Terry McGuirk, chairman of the Braves. “That’s what we’re aiming for as well.” https://t.co/JLAmebj7oH

Despite the fact that his contract negotiations with the Braves never materialized, Freeman has spoken favorably of the team since his left.

The Braves have expressed tremendous mutual regard and respect for one other, but club owner Terry McGuirk couldn’t help but criticize the star first baseman’s handling of the matter.

McGuirk told Tim Tucker of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “I love Freddie like a son.” “I’m pretty familiar with him. It was a challenge. I believe that if we could all go back in time, Freddie would be able to take more control of what transpired instead of leaving it in the hands of his agents.

“We’ve got to put Freddie behind us and focus on how we can win games this year.” But he’ll leave an indelible impression on us as a memory. When he returns to town, we’ll throw a party for him, and we’ll always adore him.”

Despite McGuirk’s scathing remarks, the organization never offered Freeman a deal that came close to what he desired. The Braves allegedly declined to give him a contract deal for more than $140 million.

The Braves’ refusal to pay the talented first baseman caused contract negotiations to stagnate, and he ended up signing a better deal with the Dodgers. Meanwhile, the Braves acquired Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson without alerting the five-time All-Star.

McGuirk may be disappointed that Freeman did not remain, but his departure was mostly due to the team’s refusal to pay him. The Braves had several opportunities to resolve the matter, but they opted to accept their destiny.

The Dodgers must embrace the new phase.

Freddie Freeman may have wished for a better outcome in Atlanta, but he’s moved on to the next phase of his career.

He’s joined a team that has high hopes of winning numerous World Series championships. Freeman joins what is perhaps the league’s deepest hitting order.

The 32-year-old will have plenty of chances to impress as a key component of the jigsaw. Although the Braves will always have a special place in his heart, he is ecstatic to begin his new adventure in Dodger blue.

“They know how much victory and family mean to me,” Freeman stated during a news conference last month, according to Arkansas Online. “Coming home and becoming a part of this organization is perhaps the finest thing that could have occurred if I was going to leave a location where I had been for 15 years.”

Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Justin Turner, Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger, Will Smith, and Chris Taylor are among the players that surround the former league MVP. The Dodgers are all-in for the World Series, and Freeman will be at the helm.
