The poor season of the Los Angeles Lakers has switched the focus to an anticipated busy summer. The team looks to be dedicated to developing a championship contender around LeBron James in the hopes that he would sign a new deal once his current one expires.
As he continues to play through another injury-plagued season, though, doubts about Anthony Davis’ long-term prospects are growing. If the Lakers decide to trade their star big man, the Boston Celtics are already out of the running as a possible destination.

The Lakers have acted like everything but a credible NBA championship contender after an exceptionally busy summer.
The franchise pulled together a slew of big-name players in the aim of propelling the team to another title. Los Angeles is instead set to compete in the play-in tournament or miss the playoffs completely due to injuries and general poor team performance.
All of this might prompt the team to evaluate all available alternatives for improving the squad, including dealing Anthony Davis. One notable club is already off the list if the front office goes that way.

Exploring the Anthony Davis trade market is one of the many paths the Lakers might take this summer.
The top big man has battled to remain healthy over the previous two seasons, contributing heavily to Los Angeles’ failure to compete for the NBA championship. He’s in the second year of a five-year, $189.9 million contract that goes through 2024-25.
If the Lakers pursue Davis in a trade, a number of clubs might be significant contenders for the eight-time All-Star. The Boston Celtics, on the other hand, would not be one of them, since the great forward is said to have no desire to play for the team.
“They (the Lakers) to to such lengths to get AD on that squad.” If they’re going to deal with him, they’ll send him wherever he wants to go. And I don’t believe Boston would ever be on his list,” the CEO said to Heavy.com.
Davis’ father already dismissed the idea that his son wanted to join the Boston Celtics because of how they handled Isaiah Thomas’ predicament, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. That viewpoint stems from the organization’s treatment of Thomas after his knee injury, which changed the path of his career.
Furthermore, the Lakers would almost certainly seek a trade package that revolved on Jayson Tatum, whom Boston would not part with in any deal. The same could be said of Jaylen Brown, since the two studs represent the franchise’s future basis.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be the cornerstones of the Lakers’ roster.

The Lakers haven’t reached the stage where they’re genuinely contemplating trading their star center.
Davis is one of the league’s best players when he’s healthy, but he’s been out for large sections of the previous two seasons. Moving LeBron James, who is 28 years old, will be a possibility if the club continues to construct a squad around him.
Davis may be part of a rich trade deal that includes first-round choices and young players for the Lakers. Given that he was instrumental in getting him to Los Angeles, the question remains whether James would take that path.
If anything, the team will continue to focus on developing a roster around its great forwards. The primary objective for general manager Rob Pelinka will be to find a way to trade Russell Westbrook, who is expected to exercise his $47.0 million player option for the 2022-23 season.
Westbrook’s worth has plummeted as a result of his poor performance. The Lakers will be forced to sweeten their trade offer with future first-round selections simply because of this. Regardless, the organization is expected to retain its famous frontcourt tandem intact for another season.
