If you thought Andrew Wiggins might be a little annoyed by the constant tease, think again. The well-known basketball prodigy is showing no signs of slowing down in his quest to become an NBA superstar and he’s not shy about making it happen.

Toronto Raptors forward, Kawhi Leonard, will be a free agent this summer. It has been speculated that he will eventually end up with the Los Angeles Lakers or re-signing with Toronto. The decision can’t come soon enough for Raptor fans who have seen their team miss out on the playoffs year after year without him to rely on.

The “2014 nba draft class” is a group of players that has been hyped by the media and fans alike. The hype surrounding the 2014 nba draft class has been built up for a while, but it seems like they’re never going to live up to expectations. Andrew Wiggins is one of the most frustrating players in the league because he teases his talent every chance he gets. Stephen Curry or Steve Kerr are foolish to think it will ever be a regular occurrence.

On Nov. 10, Andrew Wiggins had a monster night for the Golden State Warriors. He scored 35 points on 14-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, for a season best. With a 123–110 thrashing of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Warriors improved to an NBA-best 10–1. Unfortunately for Golden State supporters, this is most certainly a one-time occurrence.

Wiggins, the first overall choice in the NBA Draft in 2014, performed what he’s done all along. He retaliated against one of his old teams. Wiggins was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and has regularly thrashed them throughout his career. He’s done the same to the Wolves since joining the Warriors in a trade from Minnesota. However, for a player who regularly teases but never quite delivers on his tremendous potential, it’s more fool’s gold.

Andrew Wiggins was moved to Minnesota, and he took it out on Cleveland.

For the second year in a row, the Cavaliers were the first overall choice. Andrew Wiggins was trying to make amends in Cleveland after swinging and missing on Anthony Bennett.

Then LeBron James opted to stay with the Cavs and re-sign with them. General manager David Griffin immediately began scouting the league for improvements. Kevin Love, the Timberwolves’ superstar-in-residence, was the one he was looking for. The package that was provided to Minnesota to lure Love to Cleveland included Wiggins and Bennett.

Since then, Wiggins has been abusing the Cavaliers. Wiggins scored 23.8 points per game in 13 career games versus his previous squad, shooting 49.6% from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The Timberwolves traded Wiggins to the Golden State Warriors in February 2020, along with first- and second-round choices in 2021. D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, and Omari Spellman were acquired by Minnesota.

Wiggins’ four games versus the Wolves after the deal have been big, in classic Wiggins form. He averages 26.0 points per game while shooting 60.6 percent overall and 8-of-20 from outside the arc.

When you dig a little further, though, you’ll discover that it’s all a trick of the light.

Andrew Wiggins is a better Andrew Wiggins, but not a great one, for the Golden State Warriors.

Andrew Wiggins has improved his efficiency since joining the Golden State Warriors. He has a 47.4 percent overall shooting percentage and a 37.2 percent 3-point shooting percentage. His defense has improved to the point where it is now at least average.

Two poster dunks over former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns highlighted his tremendous performance against the Timberwolves. According to Evan Webeck of the San Jose Mercury News, Warriors star Curry, Stephen has a strategy to keep Wiggins motivated for the remainder of the season:

“Every game, immediately before the game, I’m going to email Wiggs that photo of him dunking on KAT.” We’ll see whether it helps to stimulate the creative process.”

That, however, is the issue. Wiggins, as good as he is versus Cleveland and Minnesota, can’t be depended on to put up comparable numbers on a regular basis.

Golden State may have to embrace Wiggins for who he is now that he is in his eighth NBA season. On particular occasions, he’ll go off against certain squads. However, he doesn’t seem to be capable of providing that kind of intensity on a regular basis.

A key to the Golden State Warriors’ championship prospects is waiting in the wings.

It’s unrealistic to expect Andrew Wiggins to be a viable backup to Stephen Curry for the Golden State Warriors.

However, if the medical reports are right, that much-needed second scorer will be back with the Warriors in a matter of weeks.

It won’t be because of Wiggins that Golden State will return to the NBA’s top and contend for their fourth title since 2015.

Rather, Klay Thompson’s anticipated comeback is the key to another ring in the Bay Area.

Wiggins averages 19.5 points per game and shoots 44.6 percent overall and 34.1 percent from outside the arc in his career. That’s about all the Warriors can expect from Wiggins until the NBA allows them to force every opponent to wear Cavaliers or Timberwolves outfits.

After two seasons of missing the playoffs, the Golden State Warriors look to have regained their mojo. Thompson’s comeback will help them win the title. Andrew Wiggins will have his huge game every now and again (look for Nov. 18 at Cleveland as the next one). Any other expectation will only lead to disappointment.
