The New York Knicks are back in the NBA Playoffs, having started this season with a 17-65 record.
This is not what fans wanted to see after last year’s 45-37 result. The Knicks have made some great moves recently and should be able to make it into the playoffs barring an injury catastrophe that would take them out of contention for sure… but how will they fare? Let’s examine three recent developments that could help get the ball rolling for next year!.

The “nba new york knicks” is a professional basketball team in the National Basketball Association. They are based in New York City and play their home games at Madison Square Garden. They have won 17 championships, but they’ve been struggling lately. The 3 moves the reeling Knicks need to consider to regain their balance include: trading for Paul George, signing Kevin Durant, or firing David Fizdale.

3 Moves the Reeling New York Knicks Need to Consider to Regain Their Balance

After a great 2021 season in which they made the playoffs for the first time since 2013, the New York Knicks seemed to be on the rise. Tom Thibodeau was voted Coach of the Year, Julius Randle was selected to his first All-Star Game and seemed to be developing into a franchise cornerstone, while young players like RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson began to show genuine potential.

However, such success did not carry over to 2022. More than halfway through the season, the Knicks are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 24-28. With the NBA trade deadline approaching in a week, New York must be under pressure to make a deal and turn around its poor season.

1. De’Aaron Fox in exchange for Julius Randle

In 2021, Randle had his finest statistical season of his career. On his way to his first All-Star appearance, he achieved career highs in points per game (24.1), rebounds per game (10.2), assists per game (6.0), and 3-point field goal percentage (41.1%).

However, the year 2022 has been a different tale.

Randle is averaging only 18.5 points per game in 50 starts this season, and his 41.4 percent shooting rate is the lowest of his eight-year career. Apart from his statistical regression, Randle lacks the same fire on a night-to-night basis as he had last season, and the Knicks have battled to stay afloat as a consequence.

On a recent edition of ESPN’s The Hoop Collective podcast (via RealGM), ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said that the New York Knicks are interested in trading for Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox. A Fox deal would need the Knicks to add an additional contract or two, but Randle would be the ideal centerpiece.

2. Kemba Walker should be traded for a solid scorer.

Kemba Walker’s debut season with the New York Knicks hasn’t gone as well as he had intended. Walker has failed to establish a regular position with the Knicks after signing a two-year, $18 million contract in the summer, and he was even benched by Thibodeau for a few weeks earlier this year.

Before the NBA trade deadline, the Knicks will most certainly be looking to move on from their dismal offseason signing, but who should they target in a potential deal?

Christian Wood, a forward for the Houston Rockets, has been on the trade block for what seems like the whole of the season, and he would instantly become a go-to scorer in New York’s woeful offense. The Knicks might also ask about Domantas Sabonis or Myles Turner by calling the Indiana Pacers.

What about a point guard swap between Russell Westbrook and Walker? Since joining their new clubs, neither player has looked the same, and a change of environment might easily help them both.

3. Make a strong pitch for Damian Lillard.

*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden} html,bodyheight:100% img,spanposition:absolute;width:100% ;top:0;bottom:0;margin:auto;bodyheight:100% html,bodyheight:100% html,bodyheight:100% html,bodyheight:100% html,bodyheight:100% html,bodyheight:100% html,bodyhe spanheight:1.5em;text-align:center;font:48px/1.5 sans-serif;color:white;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;text-shadow><span>▶</span>

The Knicks are sick of being referred to as a mediocre Eastern Conference team. Last season was their first taste of success, but they won’t be able to make a major impact unless they trade for or sign a superstar.

Damian Lillard, to the rescue.

After moving Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the Los Angeles Clippers for pennies, the Portland Trail Blazers seem to be giving up on the season, so now could be the best moment to strike. If Lillard is serious about winning a championship, he has to get out of Portland as soon as possible.

What could be more fulfilling than resurrecting the world-famous Knicks in the basketball paradise of New York?
